This high desert region nestled at the base of the Sierra Nevada mountain range is consistently ranked as one of the top places in America to live and do business because of its diversified economy, desirable climate, and quality of life. In quality of life studies, Men's Journal Magazine ranked Reno eighth among America's "50 Best Places To Live" and Cities Ranked and Rated Magazine named Reno ninth out of 331 cities among the best places to live.

As a State, Nevada is also highly regarded. For example, Nevada was recently voted the best small business state in the country by the Washington-based Small Business Survival Committee. Secondly, The Small Business Survival Index 2007 ranked Nevada second best in the nation for small business and entrepreneurship. Thirdly, The Center for Women's Business Research ranked Nevada third in the nation for growth in Women-owned firms.

From a Business perspective, Forbes Magazine ranks Reno 25th out of 150 cities for doing business. The Forbes/Milken Institute ranks Reno 26th out of 200 cities in their study "Best Performing Cities: Where America's Jobs Are Being Created".
